Single Vision Grains Australia was established from initiatives driven by and through the Grain Grower Organisations of Australia who believed some form of independent organisation was essential to lead and facilitate the industry on specific challenges and issues.
Following an extensive review of the industry utilizing a number of taskforces and reference groups , Single Vision Grains Australia (SVGA) was launched at Grains Week in 2005 by GRDC.
SVGA is an independent organisation funded by GRDC.

- identifying positive synergies
- reducing duplication and costs while delivering substantial benefits
- Communications
Establish a single voice that communicates a consistent message and united approach to Governments, industry stakeholders and the community
- Directional support
Influencing the dynamics and direction of each specific grain market sector building links along the chain to achieve a cohesive industry
- New and Innovative Technology
Identification and utilisation of new and innovative technologies for the growth of the industry
In addition SVGA has identified a number of key issues that the organisation will be addressing:
- Communications
- Export and domestic marketing structures
- Infrastructure
- Industry standards and certification
- Biotechnology and Generically Modified Organism’s (GMO’s)
- Biofuels
- Feed Grains
- National Strategy for Grain Hygiene
- Education
Additionally the review of the industry highlighted the directions that the grains industry would and could take over the next 20years.The report, “Towards a single Vision for the Australian Grains Industry” describes the potential markets that will be established because of the development of new technologies and market demands. This included new markets, such as agriceuticals, starch production and biofuels.
It was clear that the industry was fragmented and that many of the links in the value chain are weak, couple this with duplication, new competitors, soaring input costs, all adding extreme pressure and erosion to grower returns making it essential that new efficiencies are implemented and reduction of costs are addressed.
The industry faces a number of other challenges and with the establishment of SVGA to represent the whole value chain, synergies should be uncovered and benefits delivered
SVGA’s project strategies will focus on uniting the industry to deliver results around:
- Infrastructure, specifically focused on , road, rail, ports and storage
- Biotechnology and genetically modified organism's
- Biofuels and bio diesel
- Feed grains
- Communications
SVGA will communicate its progress and results to the industry through meetings, forums, conferences and this website.
Project objectives, management and timelines will be highlighted and available to the industry.
The success of SVGA will depend on the adoption and support by the grains industry to ensure it leads, unites and delivers benefits.
